HyPer-Drive X1™ - Controller / Inverter

The HyPer-Drive X1™ Controller / Inverter is designed to drive most AC synchronous and asynchronous motors. It is the only inverter specifically designed to power the unique Synchronous Reluctance Internal Permanent Magnet (SRIPM) technology in our HyPer 9™ Motor, but its adaptability goes further. The HyPer-Drive X1™ inverts DC power to 3-phase for virtually any motor application - including Pump Drive, CANbus Commanded Actuator, and Torque or RPM based Traction Drive. Equipped with Dana TM4's patented MOSFET multilayer power module technology, these inverters achieve the high efficiency, power density, and reliability critical for demanding EV applications.

Our Flagship X1™ handles up to 90kW (120V x 750A) peak power.

Available in 12V Isolated Logic and HV Non-Isolated Logic.

This Compact unit serves two functions:

  • Controller - We refer to the Low Voltage Logic Module as the Controller. The K1 Wire Harness receives and transmits data for Throttle, Brake, Direction, Power Limits, Rotor Position, etc. See the X1 Technical Manual for more capabilities and specifications. See the HyPer 9™ System User Manual for default wiring and programming.
  • Inverter - We refer to the High Voltage Power Module as the Inverter. The DC Supply connects to B+ & B- terminals where it is inverted to 3 Phase AC for the U,V, & W Terminals to drive the HyPer Motor. This Inverter can also be programmed as a Slave to an external Control Unit, which takes responsibility from the Controller's Logic Module.

Isolated Logic:

  • The ISO logic board is energized with 12-24Vdc+. These inverters can be identified by their separate pre-charge terminal between the V-W terminals. Catastrophic failure will occur if >24V is supplied to any K1 pin.

Isolated Logic:

  • The NON-ISO logic board is energized with Pack Voltage, in order to pre-charge and key on through the K1-24 pin. The controller then uses an internal transformer to supply the logic board with 12V. Thus, the K1 circuit must be completely isolated from all other 12V circuits in the application. These Inverters will have an indent for the pre-charge terminal between phases V-W, but the indent is not populated with a terminal.

The HyPer-Drive X144™ inverts DC power to 3-phase for virtually any motor application - including Pump Drive, CANbus Commanded Actuator, and Torque or RPM based Traction Drive. Equipped with Dana TM4's patented MOSFET multilayer power module technology, these inverters achieve the high efficiency, power density, and reliability critical for demanding EV applications.

Our X144™ handles up to 90kW (180V x 500A) peak power.
